What is the grading scale?

First of all, you have to check the iBT score you need for each university of application. The grade scale varies from 0-120, a generally acceptable score to have would be around 90-100. Our students constantly have a score above 100. In many cases universities lay special emphasis on Reading and Writing scores. A number of universities set a minimum score for those 2 sections.

I want to apply at English speaking institutions in Europe and the States. Do I need TOEFL or IELTS? (TOEFL vs IELTS)

British universities prefer IELTS, the rest of the European Universities accept both, but you have to be very careful as some institutions in the UK do not accept TOEFL anymore. All the insitutions in the States accept the TOEFL.

Do I need to take TOEFL if I hold Proficiency?

Yes, unless you have a Proficiency received in the past 2 years with a score above B.

It is very important that the computer simulation is based on real past papers, as the simulations made by big publishing firms vary in difficulty from the real test.

Which is the duration of the examination?

Total time is 4 hours. All the sections are computerized, even the Speaking. You don’t talk to an examiner, but to a computer.

When is the best time to take the TOEFL ?

You should take the TOEFL as early as possible before the graduate school application deadlines. Some universities may also accept pending scores; so that gives you some extra time to prepare.

When can I see the results?

Your results will be ready around two weeks after the examination.

For how much time are the results valid ?

  • The fee to reschedule is US$60 and must be paid before you can reschedule.

Common European TOEFL level required by academic institutions for admission

Most colleges use TOEFL scores as only one factor in their admission process.
Each college or program within a college often has a minimum TOEFL score required.
The minimum TOEFL iBT scores range from 61 (Bowling Green State University) to 100 (MIT, Columbia, Harvard).
A sampling of required TOEFL admissions scores shows that a total TOEFL iBT score of 74.2 for undergraduate admissions and 82.6 for graduate admissions may be required.
It is recommended that students check with their prospective institutions directly to understand TOEFL admissions requirements.
